University College School, Hampstead

Other Information

University College School was founded in Gower Street in 1830 as part of University College, London and moved to its current location in Hampstead in 1907. UCS aims to combine the highest standards of academic achievement and pastoral care with outstanding facilities for all-round education with a distinctive liberal ethos, offering education to children at each stage of their development from the ages of 4-18 years. We are proud to be one of the top performing schools in London, but academic success is just one part of the outstanding all-round education we provide.

We treat every pupil as an individual, drawing out their individual talents and rejoicing in their personal achievements and individual contributions. UCS fosters in them a sense of community alongside a tolerance of and a respect for the individual. By offering the fullest range of opportunities for personal and for group endeavour, it teaches the value of commitment and the joy of achievement. It is a place of study, but also of self-discovery and self-expression; a school that places equal value on learning with others as on learning from others. Education at UCS is lively and varied, creative and imaginative and we aim to create an environment that is stimulating, demanding, cheerful and open-minded.

True to the aims of our founders, and to our motto ‘Paulatim Sed Firmiter', we encourage intellectual curiosity and foster a real sense of communal endeavour. More than just a place of study, UCS is an inclusive, tolerant, positive and friendly community.
